PetSmart pet stores are the latest in a growing number of national brands that are requiring all employees and customers to wear face masks in their stores.

In an email sent to customers today, PetSmart reiterated that the new requirement, which begins today, is designed to help cut down on the spread of the coronavirus.

To help stop the spread of COVID-19, all customers and associates must wear a face covering or mask over their nose and mouth while shopping in our stores.

PetSmart will provide masks for customers who do not have their own. The chain is also asking that customers maintain social distancing, utilize Curbside Pickup if it makes you feel safer and that anyone showing symptoms or not feel well to not enter the store.

Other efforts they are taking to reduce the spread of COVID-19 include requiring all associates to wear face coverings, canceling in-store events to minimize crowds, installing clear barriers between cash registers, and stepping up their cleaning and disinfecting procedures.

These policies are being enforced nationally, including the 3 PetSmart stores in Lafayette.

I just hope that customers who bring in their pups have leashes at least 6 feet or longer,  I can't imagine walking into PetSmart and not being able to give any scritches!
