Opelousas Man Accused of Molesting His Children

56-year-old Lewis Champagne of Opelousas is in the St. Landry Parish Jail charged with molesting his two children.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says Champagne admitted to a mental health professional that he inappropriately touched one of his daughters several times. Investigators then found he allegedly touched both of his young daughters, who were both under the age of 16 at the time of the alleged incidents, and admitted the sexual abuse to their mother by text message and apologized for it.

Champagne was booked on three counts of sexual battery and has been given a total bond of $36,000.
