Louisiana Man Arrested after Baby Found with Traumatic Brain Injuries
A terrible case began to unfold last week in Calcasieu Parish. This case has led to the arrest of a Sulphur man and an emergency surgery for the victim.
A judge set bond of almost a million dollars for a Sulphur, Louisiana is alleged to have caused traumatic brain injuries to a child in his care according to KLFY.
Officials say the child was taken to the hospital after being injured and that's when law enforcement officials were called to begin investigating the circumstances surrounding this four-month-old child's injuries.
Officials with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office have arrested 23-year-old Jordan S. Tupper. The judge set Tupper's bond at $950,000. Officials say Tupper is accused of causing the child's injuries.
As the investigation unfolded, detectives say Tupper gave conflicting reports on how the child might have "accidentally" been injured. According to what medical professionals told detectives, the child suffered from traumatic brain injuries.
The child was taken to another emergency center for surgery and continuing care. The child is in critical condition at that facility, and officials with the Department of Children and Family Services say the child is now in their custody.
Tupper was charged with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile. According to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office hospital staff told detectives the child suffered "from non-accidental traumatic head injuries".
Detectives say Tupper offered several conflicting stories about what happened to the child while the baby was in his custody.
