No More Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show [VIDEO]
The iconic televised fashion show put on by Victoria's Secret has been cancelled for this year. Their parent company, L Brands, is saying that network television is not the 'right fit' for the show, which has been broadcast since 2001. The runway show has been plagued with diversity issues in the last couple of years, and Women's Wear Daily was the first to speculate about the future of the once popular event which launched the careers of Miranda Kerr, Naomi Campbell, and Gisele Bundchen.
The televised portion of the show featured elaborate lingerie, sleepwear, and angel wings, and was famous for showcasing some bras that were worth over a million dollars. It was on ABC for the first year, then moved to CBS from 2002 - 2017, but returned to ABC last year. According to CNBC, last year had a huge ratings drop, the worst in the history of the yearly event.
The brand has also been accused of not having enough diversity by refusing to feature models of all sizes.
