If you are a vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, or voluntarily restrict your diet to any one of the innumerable choices - I applaud you.  I don't understand choosing to change the way you eat for reasons other than health, but I totally get the strength it must take to live up to your convictions.  That being said, new data suggests that a vegan diet may not be the best to keep you healthy - or employed.

Throat lozenge maker Fisherman's Friend surveyed over 1,000 office workers and found that the health-conscious vegan employees were 3 times more likely to make an appointment with their doctor than other workers.  Metro reports that the survey also found that the vegetable only crowd missed an average off 5 days per year due to illness compared to other workers 2.5 days.

Experts suggest that if you want to join the approximately 6-8 million Americans who already eat a diet devoid of meat, do your homework.  Check out these helpful hints from Harvard.
