While the state of Louisiana's stay-at-home order from Governor John Bel Edwards is currently through the end of April, New Orleans has extended its order.

A spokesperson for Mayor LaToya Cantrell's office confirmed the news to WDSU-TV in New Orleans.

The city's stay-at-home order will now go through 6:00 am on May 16.

This extension comes on the heels of Cantrell announcing recommendations on Tuesday against any large festivals being held in 2020.

Of course, New Orleans has been the hardest-hit area in the state and one of the worst in the country. As of Wednesday's update, the Crescent City has had a total of 5,769 cases.
