More Lafayette Parish Schools Added To Free Meal Program
Ten more school sites within the Lafayette Parish School System are now eligible to offer free meals to their students.
LPSS spokesperson Renee Sherville announced the following 10 schools have been added to the parish's Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program:
- Acadiana High
- L.J. Alleman
- Paul Breaux Middle
- Broussard Middle
- Comeaux High
- J.W. James Elementary
- Myrtle Place Elementary
- Plantation Elementary
- Ridge Elementary
- Woodvale Elementary
With the 10 additional schools, Lafayette Parish has 31 of 42 of its schools under the CEP program.
The CEP--introduced by the USDA as a result of the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010--provides free breakfast and lunch to students attending school that qualify for the program.
Students attending schools are not eligible to participate in CEP may apply for the Traditional Meal Benefit. The applications are available in both a paper and electronic format at www.MySchoolApps.com/Application.
