The school counselor at Milton Elementary has been named Elementary School Counselor of the Year (according to the press release from Lafayette Parish Schools).

A huge congratulations to Amy Arceneaux, a UL graduate who has been working at Milton Elementary since 2015.

Arceneaux received her nomination for the award from the Lafayette Professional School Counseling Organization because they believe she exemplifies the best in school counselors.

The School Counselor of the Year Awards were created to recognize the state’s most outstanding school counselors for their top-notch, comprehensive school counseling programs that contribute to student success. LPSS

It's obvious that Arceneaux worked hard to achieve this recognition: she obtained both her master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT).

All of the winners of the state-wide "Counselor of the Year" winners are in the running for the national School Counselor of the Year Awards.

I am extremely humbled by this recognition,” said Arceneaux. “I work alongside incredible administrators, teachers, and support staff who help make it possible for our counseling team to build an impactful program. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be a positive influence on the lives of students at Milton Elementary School.”

Thank you, Amy Arceneaux, for being there right beside our other educators, helping to shape the lives of our children. Keep up the great work, and good luck on the National School Counselor of the Year Awards, we hope to see your name there, too!
