Acadiana residents hoping to spend some time catching up with a good book or doing some online research at the Lafayette Public Library's Main Branch downtown will have to make other arrangements for Saturday, October the 3rd.

As you can see from the library's Facebook post, the facility will be closed to the public on that day. The Facebook post suggests the reason for the closure is "Due to activities taking place in the downtown area on Saturday, October 3, the Main Library will be closed. Regular hours will resume on Sunday."

While the library posting makes no particular reference to a protest by NFAC, a paramilitary group planned for Parc San Souci in downtown Lafayette on Saturday afternoon. It would be hard not to speculate that might have something to do with the unplanned closure.

According to the library's social media post, they do plan to resume normal activities and normal hours on Sunday, October the 4th. None of the other branches throughout Lafayette Parish will be affected by the closure. They plan on business, as usual, this weekend. So, should you still want to find that good book or do your research, you'll just need to visit one of the many other branches of the library in the parish.
