(Baton Rouge, Louisiana) - The LSU Tigers are still trying to find a way to put more points on the scoreboard this football season, and they're about to face off with an outstanding Vanderbilt team.

While LSU is 5-1 on the season, the Tigers' offense has seemed to struggle for much of the year, and with the "meat" of their schedule approaching, the Tigers need to find ways to put more points on the board, and it may not be an easy task this week as LSU travels to Nashville for an early kickoff.

In years past, whenever a football team saw Vanderbilt on its schedule, it was often viewed as an easy win, but that is no longer the case this year. The Commodores are the 17th-ranked team in the country, and they enter the game against LSU with an impressive 5-1 record.

With LSU's offense not being overly impressive yet this season, oddsmakers actually seem to favor Vanderbilt this weekend. While it's not the first time the Commodores are favored over LSU, it's been a very long time since Vanderbilt has been favored over the Tigers.

For those who are into sports betting, Vanderbilt is currently favored by 2.5 points over LSU this weekend.

According to WBRZ's Hunter McCann, the only other time Vanderbilt has been favored to defeat LSU was back in 1948. The Commodores had been the underdog in 51 consecutive SEC games before this week's game agasint LSU.

So yes, LSU has a lot to play for this weekend, and the trip to Nashville this Saturday may not be like any other one in previous years. If you're wondering, the last time Vanderbilt defeated LSU on the football field was in 1990, when the Commodores defeated LSU 24-21.

LSU and Vandbilt are set to kick off Saturday, October 18, 20025 at 11 am on ABC.
