LSU Adds Sticker to Helmet to Kick Off 2025 Football Season
(KTDY) - The LSU Tigers are set to start their 2025 season this Saturday against Clemson, and fans may notice an addition to the team's helmet.
As the Tigers prepare to start their season, they will do so in the shadow of the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
The powerful hurricane destroyed so much of the Gulf Coast and the city of New Orleans 20 years ago, and LSU is doing its part to show its respect for those who were impacted by one of the strongest storms to hit the United States in recent years.
When taking on Clemson, you will notice that the traditional yellow helmets the Tigers wear will feature a purple sticker, as a tribute to those impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
Like many other communities 20 years ago, Baton Rouge became a refuge for many in New Orleans as they sought shelter in the days following Katrina.
Here's a look at the sticker added to the helmets of LSU this week as they kick off their 2025 football season.
Now, here's a look at the Tigers departing from Baton Rouge and heading to Clemson. LSU and Clemson kick off at 6:60 pm Saturday night on ABC.
Reflecting on Hurricane Katrina 20 years later, I found myself down a "Rabbit Hole" of photos that showed what happened in New Orleans. Even 20 years later, it still doesn't seem real that this devastation occurred in our home state.
Take a look back 20 years.
