Drivers in Louisiana May See More of These Road Hazards While Traveling
(Lafayette, Louisiana) - We know that the roads across Louisiana can be treacherous at times, but in recent weeks, I have noticed a new road hazard across parts of South Louisiana.
Often, when people travel through the Bayou State, they complain about road conditions, and I get it, but lately there's been more than just potholes to watch out for on Louisiana roads.
Besides potholes, we also have to watch out for wildlife. How many times have you seen deer, pigs, and other wildlife just standing alongside the interstate in Louisiana? It's one of my biggest fears at night when traveling between Lafayette and Baton Rouge because there are deer everywhere.
However, in recent days, I have noticed a new hazard on the roads in Acadiana, and it's on the side of the road. And no, it's not holes in the road.
Road Hazards in Louisiana
Lately, I have seen many vehicles parked with their flashers on, and the occupants standing outside the vehicle on the shoulder. And no, their car isn't parked because of a flat, but for something else.
In the last few days, I have seen more people putting gas in their vehicles on the side of the road, and I have my own theory about why so many people in South Louisiana are running out of gas.
Let me ask, and I already have the answer to this, but have you noticed the recent spike in gas prices? It is insane, and it hurts to pump gas in your vehicle, since gas here has reached nearly $4 a gallon.
And that leads us back to the vehicles on the side of the road that have run out of gas. I think many are pushing the limits and holding off on putting gas in their vehicles, which is why we are seeing more people on the side of the road without gas.

So, when traveling and while attempting to avoid the potholes in Acadiana, be very mindful of vehicles disabled on the side of the road. When you can, try to switch lanes so you don't put those drivers on the shoulder in danger while they refuel.
Now, let me decide if I really need to fuel up now, or if I can go a few more miles.
