(Lafayette, Louisiana)—As the weekend winds down, Louisianans will need to be weather-aware.

Springtime often brings severe thunderstorms to the area, and we can expect another line of severe weather to move into parts of Acadiana late Sunday night and into early Monday morning.

Storms that are projected to sweep across the area could produce heavy rain and damaging winds, thus you should have this station's mobile app on your phone for any updates to keep you and your family informed.

As of now, much of Acadiana will be under a Slight Risk for severe weather later Sunday night, however, things could change and updates will be posted here and sent to you via this station's mobile app.

Once the storms move out of the area, we can expect another beautiful day next Tuesday in Acadiana, but before that, we will have to weather the storms late Sunday night.

So, if you have plans with the kids this weekend and the plans are outdoors, you should be fine. We will have beautiful weather Saturday, and to start Sunday, but the big changes come late Sunday or early Monday morning as another cool front moves into south Louisiana.

Here's a look at the extended forecast for the Acadiana region, now we hope you enjoy this beautiful weekend and be sure to get out of the house and enjoy the sunshine.
