Louisiana Attorneys Say 11-Year-Old Child “Pawn” in Murder Case in Iberia Parish
The two Louisiana attorneys representing an 11-year-old accused of murder in the death of an Iberia Parish victim say their client is innocent according to their interview with KLFY.
Both Ryan Beaulieu and Ron Haley believe their client was used as a pawn in order to get to other family members in the case in particular the child's 15-year-old brother who was arrested Tuesday, December 5th. The children's mother, Sabrina Washington, was also arrested in connection with this case.
Haley told KLFY, "I believe that the actual physical evidence, in this case, is going to support her acquittal.
The two men will be working to get the District Attorney's Office to dismiss the charges against the young girl who they say was not at Kameran Bedsole's house when all of this transpired. Bedsole lived next door to the child and other family members.
The child's arrest was announced on Wednesday, November 29, and that's when we first reported the story to you.
According to the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Public Affairs Director Katherine Breaux, officials with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office, armed with a warrant arrested an 11-year-old female in connection with the murder of 36-year-old Kameran Bedsole which happened on Tuesday, November 14.
Officials with the Iberia Sheriff's Office found the body of the 36-year-old man in the 4700 block of Jasper Road. The man died after being shot. Officials say the 11-year-old child arrested used to be a resident of Iberia Parish.
Haley told KLFY,
I don't believe she had a motive because I don't believe she is guilty of killing the victim in this case. I believe that she was held, in this case, a pawn in order for her brother to turn himself in. The juvenile defendant did not kill or have anything to do with the killing of the victim.
Our colleague, Joe Cunningham, wrote the story about the arrest of the girl's brother and mother. You can click here to read it.
Haley says there are so many questions that need to be answered, and they will continue to look into various avenues to get answers about this case and what really happened that day.
In the interview with the attorneys, KLFY asked the attorneys who they were referring to when they said the girl was used as a pawn, and this is what Beaulieu had to say,
We believe in this case, the police department. We believe they know and have reason to believe that the 11-year-old girl had nothing to do with the shooting. Still, she was the only other person who was there because the brother had left and instead of going through other back channels to try to find the teenager, instead they put these charges on an 11-year-old.
We will continue to provide updates to the story as the details become available.
