District 23 State Senator Page Cortez (R-Lafayette) assumes a new role in the Senate as a member of the Senate Natural Resources Committee.

The Senate Natural Resources Committee is primarily responsible for reviewing legislation involving oil & gas, mineral resources, public lands, parks and recreation and wildlife and fisheries.

“I am pleased and honored to be appointed to the Senate Natural Resources Committee,” said Sen. Cortez. “Lafayette is at the center of the oil and gas industry and is the location of many natural resources in our state. I look forward to representing my area and serving on this distinguished committee as a full-time member.”

Senate President Alario named Sen. Cortez as a full-time member of the Senate Natural Resources Committee. He previously served as an interim member. Sen. Cortez is also the Chair of the Senate Select Committee on High School Interscholastic Athletics, the Vice-Chair of the Senate Retirement Committee and an interim member of the Senate Education Committee.
