Lafayette Reaches Settlement With BP
The Deepwater Horizon disaster brought thousands of lawsuits, and billions of dollars in compensation claims. The law firm of Lewis, Kullman, Sterbcow and Abramson brought a class action suit on behalf of more than 500 municipalities, including Lafayette. The Advertiser reports the Hub City will receive an award of just under $280,000. Fifteen percent will go to pay attorney fees. How the funds will be used is yet to be determined.
