A sharp-eyed store clerk alerted deputies in Acadia Parish of a possible kidnapping on Sunday afternoon. Those deputies relayed that tip to Jeff Davis Parish deputies who engaged the suspect vehicle at a truck stop near Roanoke.

That's where deputies discovered Terrence Dshaun McKinstry of Indianapolis Indiana driving what was believed to be a stolen van and holding a woman against her will.

Deputies said the woman alerted a store clerk in Crowley several hours earlier. That lead to the tip from Acadia Parish S.O. to the Jeff Davis deputies. The woman told officers she had been held against her will for the past five months. She also alluded that McKinstry had physically beaten and assaulted her.

The van McKinstry was driving was determined to have been stolen from the company where he was once employed. McKinstry is now facing charges of possession of stolen things and second-degree kidnapping.
