Louisiana Tragedy as Woman Dies After Being Injured in a Crash
Louisiana State Police officials say that a woman has succumbed to her severe injuries after she and another person were involved in a single-vehicle crash on the morning of Friday, February 28.
According to Trooper Peggy Bourque with the Public Affairs Section of Louisiana State Police, the vehicle the two women were in veered off of Louisiana Highway 357, went into a ditch, and then flipped over. The crash happened on Highway 357 near its intersection with Louisiana 358.
What Is Known About The Crash At This Point?
The crash is still being investigated, but they have some information based on the preliminary investigation after it happened at around 2 o'clock that morning. Bourque says when the vehicle went off of the roadway on the lefthand side, it then went into a ditch, hit a mailbox and flipped over with the vehicle coming to rest on its roof.
The passenger in the car was 86-year-old Anna Landry of Church Point. Bourque says she was not wearing a seat belt when the crash happened, and she was severely injured due to the serious nature of the crash.
The driver of the vehicle was 58-year-old Beverly Landry, also from Church Point. She sustained moderate injuries during the crash. Both of the women were taken to an area hospital to be treated for their injuries.
As is standard in a crash like this, according to Bourque, routine toxicology samples were taken from the driver for analysis by a lab.
On Wednesday, March 5, Louisiana State Police officials were notified that 86-year-old Anna Landry had died from injuries sustained on Monday, March 3.
