Unlucky in love lucky in Powerball? Perhaps that's what a lottery player in Louisiana was thinking when they purchased a ticket for last night's, the day after Valentine's Day Powerball drawing. The reason we say that is because preliminary information from the Louisiana Lottery website has revealed a Louisiana-sold ticket was a big-money winner in the multi-state lottery game.

Last night, February 15th, 2023, Powerball players were hoping to piece together a winning combination of numbers that would help them earn the game's $58.4 million dollar jackpot prize. If you purchased a ticket, here's the way the balls dropped at drawing time last night.

If you were unable to see the official drawing from Powerball here's the way the number shook out.

The Powerball website confirms those were the numbers drawn. That same site also confirms last night's game produced no jackpot winner and no Match 5 winners with or without the Powerplay option.

In fact, last night's $50,000 winner sold in Louisiana may have been one of the drawing's top prizes. We perused the Big Wins in Texas on the Texas Lottery site and no players in that state won a prize larger than $400 in last night's game.

The Louisiana Lottery website does confirm a Louisiana winner and does confirm the prize was won on a ticket that matched four of the white ball numbers and the Powerball. In other words, that ticket was one number away from millions of dollars.

Instead, the lucky ticket holder will get a $50,000 check from the Louisiana Lottery and the Powerball jackpot will continue to climb. As of early this morning, the Louisiana Lottery has not released details on where the big money winner was purchased. That information will likely be made public later this morning.

Meanwhile, the Powerball game's top prize will climb to an estimated $73 million dollars for Saturday's game. The other multi-state lottery game Mega Millions will feature an estimated jackpot of $84 million dollars on Friday night when the next drawing in that game is held.

Speaking of winners a Powerball winner from September 9th of 2022 that's worth $50,000 is set to expire in 16 days from today's date if it's not claimed. The ticket was purchased in the Caddo Parish town of Greenwood. If the prize isn't claimed the money will go back into the Louisiana Lottery unclaimed prize fund. Money in that fund is used to offer players more opportunities to win and second chance prizes too.
