A Springfield, Louisiana man has been arrested for allegedly stealing communication system wiring in the Ponchatoula area that left hundreds of customers without service.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, 45-year-old David Allen Bezar was taken into custody on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, by the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office.

What led to the arrest of David Allen Bezar?

Last week, TPSO was called out on a report of a theft of AT&T wire at the Natalbany River Bridge on Highway 22 in Ponchatoula. The investigation revealed that the suspect, later identified as Bazar, would burn the stolen wire to convert the copper inside into bricks that he would sell.

David Allen Bezar was taken into custody by authorities.

Bazar was later located and taken into custody. He was found with scraps of AT&T wire, copper bricks, and handwritten notes outlining his entire operation, step-by-step, detailing how he would steal the wire through his sale methods and avenues.

What were the charges against David Allen Bezar?

LPSO booked Bezar on several counts including:

  • Illegal Possession of Stolen Property (Felony)
  • Possession of Schedule II Drugs (Methamphetamine)

Once Bezar is transferred to Tangipahoa Parish, he will be booked with the following:

  • One count of Felony Theft
  • Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Theft
  • Offenses Against Electronic Mail Providers
