Sky Zone Lafayette Announces New Youth Policy After Fights
Sky Zone Lafayette is making immediate changes following a chaotic incident that drew a large police response and resulted in widespread concern across Acadiana.
The trampoline park’s local owner addressed the community directly on social media, calling what happened “unacceptable and disappointing” after fights broke out among groups of teenagers last Saturday (April 4).
Lafayette Police say officers responded just after 8 p.m. and found the parking lot filled with teens. Multiple fights broke out, even as officers were attempting to break up earlier altercations.
In total, four teenagers were arrested and later released to their parents. Dozens of others were forced to leave the property and contact parents for rides home.

Community Reaction Sparked Thousands Of Comments
The incident quickly went viral locally, generating thousands of comments and leading to a larger debate online.
Parents across Acadiana weighed in with differing opinions, with some blaming a lack of supervision, others pointing to behavior among teens, and some questioning how the situation was handled once police arrived.
The conversation ultimately led to one major question being asked across social media and radio airwaves alike: how much responsibility falls on parents versus businesses when teens are dropped off unsupervised?
New Youth Supervision Policy Takes Effect
In response, Sky Zone Lafayette says it is taking accountability while also implementing stricter policies to prevent similar situations.
Effective Friday, April 10, the park has introduced an updated youth supervision policy:
- Guests 17 and under must now be accompanied by an adult age 25 or older
- One adult may supervise up to six minors
- Supervising adults may be required to show valid ID
- Adults must remain inside the facility during the visit
- Adults are responsible for the behavior of minors in their group
The business also confirmed that additional security will be on site to help enforce the new rules.
Business Emphasizes Safety Moving Forward
In its statement, Sky Zone emphasized its commitment to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for both guests and staff.
The owner noted that while staff attempted to enforce existing policies, many teens gathered outside in the parking lot, contributing to the situation escalating beyond control.
Moving forward, the updated policy and increased security presence are aimed at preventing unaccompanied minors from accessing the facility or gathering nearby.
