Two Tickets Split Powerball Jackpot – Louisiana Winners Confirmed

(Baton Rouge, LA) The Louisiana Lottery has confirmed it was a very lucrative night for Louisiana fans of the multi-state lottery game Powerball. Powerball had created quite a frenzy for the past two weeks as the game's jackpot had climbed to and above the $1 billion mark.

Last night, the Powerball game held its weekly Saturday drawing. At the time the balls started dropping out of the hopper and into history, the estimated jackpot prize was $1.787 billion for the annuitized jackpot.

If you're wondering, the $1.787 billion is the second-largest jackpot prize ever won in a Powerball game. The largest prize was a $2.04 billion payout to a single ticket sold in California for a November Powerball drawing back in 2022.

How Much Was the Powerball Jackpot for Saturday, September 6, 2025?

We can get the official answer to that question by watching the drawing from last night.

Our sources at Powerball have confirmed that two tickets sold for Saturday's game did match all the numbers needed to claim a share of the $1.787 billion prize. One of those tickets was sold in the Texas Lottery. The ticket was purchased in Fredericksburg, Texas.

The other Powerball jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Missouri. We have not been able to get the point of purchase details from the Missouri Lottery, but through our sources at Powerball, Texas Lottery, and the Louisiana Lottery, we can confirm that half of the jackpot money is going to the Show Me State.

Louisiana had one of its most lucrative lottery nights in a long time. According to my people in Baton Rouge, there were more than 65,000 winning tickets sold in the state for last night's drawing. If you'd like to check your numbers, here's what we saw rolling out of the hopper last night.

According to a news release from Powerball, there were more than 9.9 million tickets that won cash prizes in last night’s Powerball drawing. Nationwide, 18 tickets matched all five white balls to win $1 million prizes. 232 tickets won $50,000 prizes (Match 4 + PB) and 90 tickets won $100,000 prizes (Match 4 + PB + Power Play).

You will be pleased to know that Louisiana had two $100,000 winners using that number match scenario and another three winners that had the same number match but did not opt for the Power Play like the $100,000 winners did.

We are still waiting for the point of purchase details to be confirmed by the Lottery. But with so many winning tickets sold in the state, it would be a wise idea to check those numbers sooner rather than later.

The Powerball jackpot will now reset to $20 million for Monday's drawing. That means the highlight of the lottery week will come on Tuesday when the Mega Millions game holds its next jackpot drawing for a top prize valued at $336 million.

There was no winner in the Louisiana Lottery's Lotto game or the Easy 5 game last night. Those jackpots will continue to grow ahead of Wednesday's drawing. The Lotto jackpot on Wednesday is estimated to be $2.2 million. If Lotto doesn't get a winner this week, I will be totally surprised.

Easy 5, which I think is the most winnable game of the "big four" from the Louisiana Lottery, will play for a jackpot prize of $130,000 on Wednesday as well.
