Target Recalling Food Product Sold in Louisiana – ‘Serious Problem’
(KMDL-FM) Target stores have announced a nationwide recall of a food product that could present a problem for consumers. For some consumers, the problem might be only a minor annoyance, a little gastric distress, if you will. However, for others, the situation regarding the recalled merchandise could take a deadly turn swiftly if not dealt with.
The issue in this food recall is a common issue in many food recalls. There is something included in the product that the label does not specify. For most consumers, a "small labeling mistake" wouldn't be that big a health issue. However, for those who suffer from food allergies, even just a hint of an allergen in the foods they consume could result in a visit to the emergency department or even worse, a final stop at a funeral home.

So far in this recall, Target stores have noted three consumer complaints. In each of those complaints, it was noted that an ingredient not listed on the label was, in fact, a part of the dish.
What Is The Ingredient Responsible for the Target Frozen Food Recall?
The ingredient in this case was shrimp. Now, this is not to be confused with another shrimp recall that is currently underway at Walmart stores. Those shrimp are being recalled over concerns of radioactive readings. In this case, the product being recalled is not shrimp; it's actually a frozen prepared dish that isn't supposed to have shrimp included.
The product is sold under Target's Good & Gather Brand, and specifically, the product on recall is the Southwest-Style Burrito Bowl. There are six lots of that product that are believed to have been affected, and all of those products are covered by this recall notice.
It is the parent company of this Good & Gather product, One Frozen, LLC of Rochester, New York, that is making the recall request for the 12-ounce packages of the Southwest-Style Burrito Bowls. Here are the details on the product courtesy of the Food and Drug Administration.

And here is what a picture of the product packaging looks like. It should have been pulled from the store shelves by now, but do look in your freezer at home to see if you may have purchased this item before the recall notice was issued.
The advice being offered on this recall is this. If you or no one in your family has a known shrimp allergy and you're comfortable with the possibility of finding shrimp in your burrito bowl, then carry on as normal.
However, if there are concerns that someone with a shrimp allergy could come in contact with this product, it is suggested that you throw it away. Or, you may bring the product back to your local Target store for a replacement product or a refund of your money.
