Most of Acadiana woke up this morning to a pretty tumultuous line of thunderstorms that produced heavy rains and winds. As it became light, some residents in the area were up and assessing the damage.

In Acadia Parish, the Sheriff's Office posted on its Facebook page pictures of some of the damage in the areas of Sally Road, Homer Adams Road, and Lyons Point Highway. While unconfirmed, they went as far as mentioning that a tornado struck.

They did not report any injuries due to the storms, but as you can tell in the pictures below, there was some property damage.

The National Weather Service did, in fact, confirm that an EF1 tornado, with 90 mph winds, touched down near Morse around 5:57 am.

We heard from one of our listeners on Facebook who lives in Morse of some specific damage to their property. Lynn T. wrote: "Flipped our camper into the trailer and broke windows out of two of our cars and took out our fence and front patio and back steps."

According to KLFY News 10, they received reports of damage to homes and buildings in New Iberia.

The New Iberia Fire Department said the damage was caused by high winds. Reports of damage come from Caroline Street and Jefferson Island Road and another affected area was a construction site that was not secured.

At one point, the New Iberia Police Department blocked off the intersection of Highway 14 and Avery Island due to downed power lines.

There was also this Facebook post that showed some damage in New Iberia.

Finally, one family in Grand Marais caught some pretty amazing video on their home surveillance system. Samantha Richard posted the video below of what looks like the beginning formation of a possible tornado.

Thankfully, Samantha reported back to us that everyone was okay.
