Louisiana Powerball – Two Tickets Win $50,000 Wednesday Night

The Louisiana Lottery Office in Baton Rouge and Powerball Lottery officials have confirmed more "I-10 wins" for Powerball players in Louisiana. We say, "I-10 wins" because last night's Powerball drawing produced two $50,000 winning tickets that were sold in cities that the state's southern interstate passes through.

It's not a surprise that the big money winners in the Wednesday, August 17, 2023, Powerball game came from the I-10 corridor. The reason? Most winners do. Here's a recent map of the Lousiana Lottery's big money win locations. You'll notice the bulk of the big money comes from lottery players who purchase tickets between Lake Charles and New Orleans.

And in case you're wondering, yeah it's because of Cajun gris gris that all that luck stays south of Alexandria. Or, it could be that more people live along and near I-10 which means there are more players and therefore more winners.

Speaking of winners, here's how Wednesday's Powerball game unfolded.

The numbers produced by the bouncing balls were confirmed to be:

Those numbers were verified by the Powerball website. Last night's game did not produce a jackpot winner as no tickets sold matched the numbers needed to claim the game's top prize of $240 million dollars. Since there was no jackpot win, the estimated top prize for Saturday's drawing will be $264 million.

Wednesday's drawing produced two $50,000 winners in Texas according to the Texas Lottery Winner's page. The Texas Lottery doesn't publish points of purchase for prizes below one million dollars. So, if you bought a Powerball ticket in Texas you should be checking your numbers.

Meanwhile, the Louisiana Lottery does offer point-of-purchase information on their big money "draw games". And last night's Powerball did make two ticket purchasers $50,000 richer.

In each case, the $50,000 winning tickets matched four of the five white ball numbers and the Powerball. By rule, that's a $50,000 win. Neither of the winning ticket purchasers opted in on the Powerplay option which would have doubled their winnings for just a dollar more.

Where Were Louisiana Powerball Winning Tickets Sold?

One of the $50,000 winners was purchased in New Orleans at Discount Corner on South Claiborne Avenue. For the other $50,000 winner you'd have to drive I-10 to the other side of the state. That's because the second $50,000 winner was sold in Lake Charles. The Louisiana Lottery confirmed that the big winner was sold at Stripes on Gerstner Memorial Drive in that city.

Single Ticket Takes Mega Millions Jackpot of $36,000,000 on Tuesday Night

Game officials with Mega Millions finally confirmed a jackpot winner for their drawing on August 13, 2023. The game's jackpot of $36,000,000 was claimed by a ticket sold in Jacksonville, Florida. The Mega Millions jackpot will once again reset to $20,000,000 for Friday's drawing.

Meanwhile, back in Louisiana, there was no winner in the Lotto game. That jackpot will climb to an estimated $1,625,000 for Saturday night's drawing. The Easy 5 game did not get a winner either. That jackpot will be an estimated $70,000 on Saturday night.
