Louisiana Powerball Ticket Claims Major Cash in Wednesday’s Drawing
(Baton Rouge, LA) The Louisiana Lottery had better send in an order for more ink for the check-writing machine. It appears as though the Baton Rouge-based Louisiana Lottery is going to be writing another big check for a Powerball winner.
You may have heard that in Saturday's Powerball drawing, a ticket sold in Lafayette, Louisiana, earned a Match 5 Million prize with Power Play to lay claim to a total prize of $2 million. According to the Unclaimed Prizes page on the Louisiana Lottery website, that $2 million prize has already been picked up. I can't say that I would wait to do that either.

On Wednesday night, Powerball players were hoping to match five white ball numbers and the Powerball to claim the game's top prize of $217.1 million. That's just one of the nine ways you can win with Powerball, and while the Louisiana ticket didn't win the jackpot prize, we can confirm the check they get will have a lot of zeroes on the good side of the decimal point.
Here's the drawing from Wednesday night:
As we mentioned, there were no tickets sold across the Powerball landscape that matched all the numbers needed to claim the $217.1 million jackpot. However, there was a plethora of Match 5 Million winners sold for Wednesday's game. There were eight tickets sold that matched all five of the white balls but not the Powerball.
Those tickets were sold in Nebraska and Florida, as well as two winners each in California, Massachusetts, and Illinois. And to top that off, just across the Sabine River in Texas, a Match 5 Million winner with Power Play was sold at a Walmart in Frisco, Texas for a $2 million win. So all in all, there were nine Match 5 Million winners sold for Wednesday's Powerball.
What Were Wednesday's Powerball Numbers?
Speaking of that, I bet you'd like to check your numbers:

Here's a fun fact about last night's two-million-dollar winner in Texas: that ticket was not a Quick Pick. Most big money lottery wins are handled by the random number generator, but last night's Lone Star win was not. So, it proves that no matter how you get your numbers, you can still be a winner if Lady Luck is on your side.
And Lady Luck must have breezed through Louisiana on Wednesday because a ticket sold in The Bayou State matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball, and they invoked the Power Play option. So, the total take for that ticket will be $100,000.
The Louisiana Lottery has yet to reveal the point of purchase for that $100,000 winner, but we should be made privy to that information later today. We will update the story as soon as the information is made available to us.

There was no jackpot winner in Lotto, which comes as a huge surprise to me. That game doesn't usually reach a jackpot of $1.15 million, but on Saturday night, that's how much you could win. Easy 5 is also a bit behind in making a winner based on our statistical history. That game will play for a top prize of $120,000 on Saturday.
How Much is the Mega Millions Jackpot on Friday Night?
Meanwhile, your next chance at instant millions will happen on Friday night with the Mega Millions game. The top prize in that game is an estimated annuitized amount of $80 million.
