Louisiana Attraction Deemed ‘Unfriendliest’ In the Nation
(KMDL-FM) When we moved to Louisiana in 1995, one of the first things my family noticed was just how friendly the people along "the Bayou" really were. We hadn't been in town for more than a month, and we had friends in Lafayette, Youngsville, Broussard, Breaux Bridge, Crowley, and the list has grown over the past 30 years.
So to see that a national publication such as USA Today has deemed any "attraction" in Louisiana as "unfriendly" doesn't fit the model of who we claim to be in Louisiana. We are a state full of huggers and "did ya eat yet" kind of people. Unless you're standoffish, I can't think of a reason why you'd think we'd be standoffish.

Needless to say, we were preparing to fire off a well-thought-out yet friendly-toned letter to the editors of USA Today when we realized why they had given such an "honor" to a place in Louisiana. Think about it, where is the only place in the state that you wouldn't want to be on a Saturday night if you were from Athens, Georgia, or Oxford, Mississippi, or God forbid, Tuscaloosa, Alabama?

Where Is the Best Place to Be on a Saturday Night in Louisiana?
Okay, I guess they're right, Tiger Stadium is a very unfriendly place to be on game night if you aren't cheering for the Purple and Gold. And since the USA Today article was about college football stadiums, I can see why they happened to pick our little "patch of Heaven" as the most hellish place to play if you're a visiting football team.
It's no surprise that member schools of the Southeastern Conference held down quite a few slots in the USA Today Top Ten of "unfriendly" stadiums. LSU was at number one, then there was a drop to number six, which was Neyland Stadium at the University of Tennessee.
At number 7 was Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia, followed by the stadiums at the University of Alabama, the University of Florida, and rounding out the top ten was Kyle Field at Texas A&M.
When is LSU's First Football Game in 2025?
So, I guess if we have to be known as being "unfriendly," it might as well be on the football field. Just remember, we'll make it up to you when we feed you. The LSU Tigers open the 2025 college football season against Clemson on August 30th, and the Tigers' first home game is September 6th against Louisiana Tech.
