(KMDL-FM) The rollercoaster that is the weather in Louisiana is on a bit of a plateau this week. That means that what you see today, you'll probably still be seeing at the end of the week. But what you feel this morning, will you be feeling that by Saturday, and the weekend rolls around?

How Cool Is It Across Louisiana This Morning?

In the Lafayette and Lake Charles area, this morning temperatures will fall to 62 degrees before we start to warm up with the rising sun. The further north you go in Louisiana, the cooler the temperatures get. Temperatures in the Shreveport/Bossier City area are in the upper 50s this morning.

The reason for the cooler and drier air is a cold front. That frontal system slid through South Louisiana during the day on Sunday, which is why yesterday morning seemed so pleasant. Today should be similar. And despite the fact that afternoon temperatures will warm up to near 90, the heat won't feel as oppressive as it has felt in the past with the additional humidity.

Temperatures will begin to warm up as we move through the workweek. However, the humidity won't be back at full strength until the weekend. Forecasters are now suggesting afternoon high temperatures in the mid-90s with higher heat indices for the weekend. So, enjoy the next day or so and the brief taste of fall weather in Louisiana.

What Is Louisiana's Biggest Weather Concern Over the Next Two Weeks?

And here's a heads up for the next two weeks or so, the extended forecast calls for no rainfall in the area through September 23rd. That could begin to pose some problems for yards and gardens around the state. If you don't have a watering plan or irrigation system in place, you will probably want to start to get familiar with your garden hose or manual sprinkler system.
