Amazon Officially Pulls Plug on Free Service in Louisiana
(KMDL-FM) The word "free" is often used in marketing ploys to get consumers to think they are getting a deal. Oftentimes, the word "free" is misused, at least in my opinion it is. For example, there is a grocery store in Lafayette that proudly displays a sign that says "Free Delivery - $99 a Year". I went to public school in Mississippi, and my education is questionable at best, but I don't think that's what free means.
One of the biggest misusers of the word "free" is the giants of retail, namely Walmart, Target, Amazon, and companies like those that provide a lot of "free" services to their customers for a price. For example, I was told that I should order things from Amazon because we have an Amazon Prime Membership. That "paid for membership" earns me free shipping.

As you may have noticed over the post-pandemic years, many companies that once offered "pay-per-free" events and services have ended them or are scaling them back. You're finding places like Costco tightening the rules of membership and actually giving members the perks that they have paid for. Even if it's to the chagrin of other customers who were used to getting the perk "for free".
What Is The Latest Free Perk That Amazon Is Taking Away?
The latest free perk that's going away has already left your smart TV. In fact, it may have vanished while you were trying to figure out where to watch the Kansas City versus Los Angeles NFL game from Brazil. That game was on YouTube, who knew? Evidently, no one in my family did.
But one thing I did notice was that Freevee, the free streaming content provider where I have been watching reruns of MXC - Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, was no longer there. And there is a good reason why it's not there anymore: Amazon, the channel's parent company, pulled the plug on Wednesday.

Where Can You See Programming That Was Available on Freevee?
I really shouldn't have been surprised by this, nor should you; they told us about it in a memo from earlier this summer. But as of Wednesday, Freevee is no longer available from Amazon. You can still find the service's content on your TV if you know where to look.
As of now, fans of the site are being directed to a website where they can download Prime Video, which you'll need for NFL games later this year. But via Prime Video, you can find MXC, Judge Judy, and some other not-quite-brand-new shows to peruse.
As of now, there is no particular fee to access the programming, but you know that will change, and they're going to make you buy something, at least I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
