10 Things Guaranteed to Scare Any Real Louisiana Resident
Late October is the time of year when Louisiana homeowners go out of their way to make their houses and neighborhoods look less attractive. From Lafayette to Lake Charles, homes are covered in spiderwebs and dust and decorated with gravestones as we all prepare for Halloween night. And while all of those accouterments are designed to be scary, they aren't really.
You see what scares people in Louisiana isn't the interesting evil that lurks beneath Mary Jane's Bridge or the hidden costs to repair the Bruce Street Bridge. In fact, other than getting hung up on the Basin Bridge because of a crash and just the physical condition of the I-10 bridge in Lake Charles, we aren't that scared of bridges.
I think Louisiana's healthy "disrespect" for what other folks find scary comes from our natural environment. When you grow up and live in an area that is filled with creatures that could crawl out of a ditch and eat you, you learn not to be afraid of creatures that don't exist, namely ghosts, ghouls, witches, and honest politicians.
If we know what folks in Louisiana are not afraid of, maybe we should concentrate on making a list of things that would genuinely scare folks who call Louisiana home. So we asked around and came up with a list of things that people told us would absolutely terrify them.
Sure the list is a bit "tongue in cheek" but like the old saying says, "there is truth in every tease". So we are going to stick to our guns when we suggest the following items are guaranteed to scare any real Louisiana resident.
