Hanson was one of the hottest acts of the late '90s, but will they really be gracing the Festival International stage in Lafayette?

I got a text from a friend who told me his wife was "rearranging her day to see Hanson at Festival." My first thought was "are we talking... like... the '90s heartthrob boy band of brothers with the hair Hanson?"

This couldn't be. I mean, what if it was? But, no... there was no way that Hanson was playing Lafayette's biggest event and somehow, it just flew under the radar of every millennial in the entire city.

Well, clearly some of the millennial mom groups of Lafayette caught wind because word has allegedly been getting around over the last 24-48 hours via a screengrab donning the official Festival International logo that shows the "MMMBop" singers taking the LUS stage at noon on Wednesday.

I let my friend know that this was a photoshop job or some likely prank that managed to circulate on social media because Festival's official website showed both Nathan's (Big and Lil') as the only two performers on Wednesday starting later in the evening.

He swore to me that he saw it, sending another screengrab—so I decided to manually search for "Hanson," and lo and behold I saw a trio of long-haired nostalgia staring back at me from my computer screen.

I immediately reached out to my friends at Festival International who quickly confirmed that Hanson is NOT playing on any stage at this year's event.

I hate being the bearer of bad news, but I also couldn't imagine the frustration of someone showing up with neon posters and their favorite Hanson t-shirt to only find stagehands getting ready for this weekend's actual entertainment lineup.

Unfortunately, I didn't get my message out soon enough for some Hanson fans who were skeptical when they saw the schedule, but decided to take a convenient lunch break downtown "just in case."

In the time that it took me to write this story, I received at least 2 other messages from listeners asking us to confirm or deny that Hanson was playing from fans who were literally ready to run out of their homes and make a beeline for Downtown Lafayette.

Just in case you were wondering what Hanson has been up to since you were jamming to them in the backseat of your mom's minivan, they're actually still releasing music. As a matter of fact, the Hanson die-hards will tell you that they never stopped.

Isaac, Taylor, and Zac are still touring and cranking out tunes, but the one major difference is that they've also been cranking out kids. It's supreme dad life for the Hanson boys as there are 15 kids between the three of them.

Oh, and beer. Their passion for beer led them to found The Hanson Brothers Beer Co. based in their hometown of Tulsa, Okla.

They even found a way to mix it with their music.

Our first love is music and with over 20 years as musicians and entrepreneurs in the band Hanson, we are integrating a bit of that craft into each beer sold by giving a free song with every bottle... Our recipe: The best ingredients and total dedication to all aspects of our craft, all brewed with passion. Beer + Music = Awesome

I'm not really sure how I feel about pairing an IPA with "MMMbop" but it seems to work for Hanson.

It's a bummer that they won't actually be here for Festival because something tells me that for a few dads who love music, beer, and family fun—this weekend would be right up their alley.

Maybe next year?
