It seems like everywhere you look in Lafayette, there is road construction happening.

And, while it can be a pain right now, it also means better roads and more room to travel on some of these roads is coming, which is a great thing!

Take Kaliste Saloom, for instance. Construction has been happening from its intersection with Ambassador Caffery to its intersection with E. Broussard Road for quite a while now as they are currently widening the roadway from a two-lane to a four-lane, which will be HUGE for local traffic that ALWAYS gets jammed up in that stretch. And, the super roundabout constructed in that area has been great for that local traffic as it has helped to ease it along.

This next road construction endeavor takes us to the opposite end of Kaliste Saloom Road - the intersection of E. Kaliste Saloom and S. Hugh Wallis. This intersection is just a stones throw from Kaliste Saloom's intersection with U.S. 90 and near the Episcopal School of Acadiana campus. This intersection is closing for ONE WEEK BEGINNING TODAY through Wednesday, May 5, as Lafayette Consolidated Government crews repair concrete panels. There will be detour routes provided as local access will be allowed.
