While snow pictures have been fun to see all morning, this is the dangerous part that comes with severe winter weather.

Video from Chris Fitzmorris shows electricity surging through power lines around the same time that a transformer in Kenner went down, knocking out power for more than 10,000 people.

According to reports from WDSU and WWL, multiple wires are down near the intersection of West Esplanade and Power Boulevard and traffic has been shut down while Entergy crews work to get the transformer back up and running.

Thousands of others are out of power as the winter storm continues to move across south Louisiana with more than 10,000 people out of power here in Acadiana alone.

Even colder air and dangerous wind chill values are expected tonight in some areas that could drop "as low as 5 degrees" overnight.
