Iconic New Orleans Jazzman Ellis Marsalis Dies at 85
A specific cause of death was not noted but there have been reports that Marsalis passed away from pneumonia brought on by COVID-19. Four of Marsalis' six sons have followed in his musical footsteps. Wynton Marsalis is managing and artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center. Another son, Branford is a widely acclaimed saxophonist. His sons Jason and Delfeayo are also acclaimed performers in the genre as well.
