I-10 W Closed This Morning at Whiskey Bay Due to Truck Fire
UPDATE 6:43 AM: Traffic now being detoured via Lobdell.
Earlier this morning, a truck was on fire on the westbound side of I-10, necessitating the closure at Whiskey Bay. We're told the fire is out at this moment, but the towing and cleanup are in process. Check this link to the I-10/Whiskey Bay LA DOTD website camera, to see if it's still closed when you read this. From Rob Kirkpatrick at 96.5 KPEL:
Troop I Spokesman, Master Trooper Brooks David says the interstate is closed at mile marker 126 due to a fire involving an 18-wheeler. No other details were given.
Traffic is not being detoured at this time, but if you are headed westbound toward the Atchafalaya Basin, the alternate route is US 190 to Opelousas. You would then need to take I-49 south back to I-10 in Lafayette.
We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
