As of 10 p. m. CDT Thursday, October 8, 2020, Hurricane Delta has strengthened a little more while moving over the south-central Gulf of Mexico and has become a Category 3 hurricane. The eyewall was not apparent a few hours ago but has reformed as of 10 p. m. Slight strengthening is expected over the next six hours. There is good news, however. After the slight strengthening, Delta will meet wind shear, drier air and cooler waters, conditions that will be working against her. Forecasters still expect Delta to make landfall as a Category 2 hurricane.
