Healing House; Hope for Grieving Children is looking for volunteers to help grieving children and teens who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or special person. Interested volunteers must be at least 21 years of age, available two evenings out of each month, and able to attend the scheduled training series.

Healing House; Hope for Grieving Children provides grief support groups for children in an atmosphere where they are allowed to express their grief through interactive play, expressive artwork, and discussion groups with peers experiencing the same trauma.  All services provided by Healing House are free of charge and run by trained volunteers.

Volunteers are a vital part of the care and support Healing House provides for grieving children and their families. They are special, selfless people who willingly give their time and talents to provide support and compassion to children who are experiencing the most difficult period in their lives.

Volunteers serve as support group facilitators for children ages 4-17 and are instructed on how to listen and respond appropriately to a grieving child.  A background or experience in mental health or counseling is NOT required.  A facilitator is not a counselor but serves as a caring companion in our support groups.

The upcoming training session will be held:

Friday, October 23, 2020  TIME: 8:30am-3:30pm

Saturday, October 24, 2020  TIME: 8:30am-1:30pm

Volunteers are required to attend both days of the training series.

Volunteer training is offered three times a year, usually during the Spring, Summer, and Fall and is conducted over a two- or three-day period. The Volunteer Application can be found here.
