Have You Dared To Visit ‘Hookman’s Cemetery?’

An abandoned cemetery and nearby bridge in Robert's Cove are among the most allegedly haunted places in the state.

An abandoned cemetery and bridge just outside Rayne is the site of numerous reports of supernatural activity.  Natives and visitors to the area over the years have heard strange noises and screams and have seen phantom figures, including a headless horseman. Some say your car will stop while on the bridge and won't re - start until being pushed to the other side. Others say the bridge has the been the site of numerous suicides since the 1920s.

In 2010, Daily Advertiser writer Amanda McElfresh and photographer Brad Kemp visited the bridge and cemetery. 'Hunt For The Haunted: An Exploration of Hookman's Cemetery' was extremely popular when first released and was re - released by the paper in 2016.
