Harley Davidson Shuts Down Factory
More trouble for America's great motorcycle company. Harley Davidson is closing its manufacturing plant in Kansas City, Missouri. The company plans to consolidate manufacturing in York, Pennsylvania, according to the Chicago Tribune. The move will eliminate 800 jobs in Kansas City, while adding 450 in York. That's a net loss of 250 jobs. Demand for new motorcycles is slumping nationwide. Polaris Industries, manufacturer of ATV's, personal watercraft, and snowmobiles, has been winding down production of Victory motorcycles for a year.
