Happy National Left Handers Day!
Today is National Left Handers Day. The right handed "majority" doesn't give us much thought. Some of my friends didn't notice I'm left handed 'til we'd known each other a few years. "Southpaws" have to be adaptable. Many devices used in everyday life aren't user friendly for us. Try opening your fridge with your left hand. Microwaves have the keypad on the right, and the door opens "backwards." Sitting at a crowded dinner table can be awkward. As a result, we tend to be independent thinkers. There's an unspoken bond among lefties. My father was left handed, his father before him. Right brain people are generally more creative & imaginative than left brainers. "Southpaws" who've distinguished themselves in the arts, and competitive sports include Indy 500 winner & series champion Tony Kanaan, Cy Young award winner Ron "Louisiana Lightning" Guidry, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, the late Jimi Hendrix, Babe Ruth, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Rembrandt, among others. If you're a lefty, here's to us! This our day.
