Gulf Search: Four Crew Members from Acadiana Still Unaccounted For

According to our news partners at KATC TV3, four of the crew members on the vessel that overturned in the Gulf of Mexico are from Acadiana.

Who are the Missing Acadiana Crewmen aboard the Seacor Power?

The four men, listed as Quinon Pitre of Lawtell, Dylan Daspit of Iberia Parish, Gregory Walcott of Abbeville, and Jay Guevara of Lafayette are, as of this hour, still unaccounted for.

The Seacor Power, a 129-foot lift boat, was traveling in rough seas with a crew of 19. Of the crew, six have been rescued, one body was pulled from the water, and 12 are still unaccounted for.

According to the post, conditions in the area, about 8 miles from Port Fourchon, were rough, with seven to nine-foot seas, and winds in the area were above hurricane strength, clocked between 80 and 90 miles per hour.

The US Coast Guard continues to search, aided by "Good Samaritan" vessels. During the press briefing, Coast Guard officials said that the vessel was still capsized and grounded, and has moved little, if at all.

The Seacor Power is a lift boat, what some may call a "jack-up barge", with tall telephone pole-like pipes that are used to lift the vessel out of the water to give it stability while the crew works. In the photo of the vessel, you can clearly see one of the tall poles.
