Lafayette’s Gleaux Run Lights Up Thanksgiving Eve for Cancer Support
(99.9 KTDY) - Before packing in the pounds while packing in the Thanksgiving turkey and fixings, Miles Perret Cancer Services is giving you the chance to shed some calories, maybe, and brighten up the night during the annual Gleaux Run.
What Is the Gleaux Run?
The 2025 Camellia Crossing Gleaux Run will be the 22nd annual event that is all about family, fun, celebrating, and helping those in our community who live, fight, and survive cancer. It also pays tribute to those who have fought so bravely, and it's a way to honor them.

A Thanksgiving Eve Tradition in Lafayette
As Thanksgiving will be on Thursday, November 27, Thanksgiving Eve is a time when many families are home to celebrate. If you know guests are coming to visit you in Acadiana, consider getting everyone passes to be a part of the Gleaux Run. This is an easy way to help your community and feed your relatives the night before Thanksgiving.
The Gleaux Run offers a fun way to get some exercise, enjoy great music, party, help out, and enjoy delicious food. It's a great way not to have to worry about your guests for the whole night.
It's a family-friendly 5K and 1-mile race, according to Miles Perret Cancer Services.
Why the Gleaux Run Matters
This organization was founded years ago as a way to celebrate the life of Miles Perret, who battled cancer. The organization offers a vast variety of resources, including a library with material on all types of cancer, exercise groups, a facility, nutrition assistance, wigs, and more.
The resource section of the Miles Perret Cancer Services website is full of a fantastic amount of information regarding all types of cancer.
One of the most devastating things a parent must hear is that their child has cancer. That was the reality for a Lafayette family when their little boy, Miles Perret, was diagnosed with the disease in 1995.
The Story of Miles Perret
A young Lafayette boy named Miles Perret was diagnosed with cancer, and just a short time later, in 1996, he succumbed to a glioblastoma, which is a brain tumor.
Miles' parents and family wanted Miles to have a carefree life, just like usual. What they also learned was how to deal with the challenges people with cancer and their families deal with daily.
