Full Moon, Eclipse And Comet All This Friday!

According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, the "Full Snow Moon" will appear, the "Penumbral Lunar Eclipse" will occur, and Comet 45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdušáková will be making a fly-by!

The most optimal viewing for the eclipse will be on the East coast, though some of us may be able to notice the darkening of the moon from where we are. The "high" viewing time will be 6:44 pm Central time (if conditions allow).

The Full Moon is called the Full Snow Moon at this time because, historically, February is the month with the most snowfall. If you've never seen a Full Moon in an area that is covered in snow, it really is a beautiful sight!

And finally, Comet 45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdušáková will be making its closest pass to the Earth in over 30 years. Around 2 am Central Saturday morning, take a look to the East. The comet, if visible from your area, will appear to be a streak in the sky with a blue-green head.
