It’s official: Frozen II is the sixth movie released by Disney this year to surpass $1 billion in global box office ticket sales. Long live Queen Elsa. It doesn’t look like she’s going anywhere anytime soon. While this success was predicted last week when Disney shattered a box office record by becoming the first studio to hit $10 billionThe Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Frozen II is the next movie to join the billion dollar club.

Following a massive opening Thanksgiving weekend of $358 million worldwide, the sequel has quickly amassed the remaining hundreds of millions needed to push it over the $1 billion mark. According to THR’s reports, Frozen II currently sits at $1.032 billion ($366.5 million domestically and $666 million overseas). Disney’s other 2019 releases to reign alongside Frozen II at the $1 billion mark are Avengers: Endgame, The Lion King, Captain Marvel, Toy Story 4, and Aladdin. Only two non-Disney pictures can join them this year — Warner Bros.’ Joker and Sony’s Spiderman: Far From Home.

This milestone breaks the record for the number of billion-dollar movies to be released under a single studio in one year. The current record was held by — you guessed it — Disney, with four movies reaching the $1 billion mark in 2016. But Disney isn’t finished yet. With Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hitting theaters this Friday, their record-breaking list of billion dollar-titles might just gain one more.
