Former Crowley city judge Edmund Reggie is dead at 87. KATC reports the one time political prodigy, and father in law to Senator Edward M. Kennedy passed away at his home in Lafayette.
Reggie became a city judge, at only 24 years of age, in 1951. He served for 25 years.
When John F. Kennedy ran for president, he had a hand in bringing Kennedy and his wife, Jacqueline to the Rice Festival. Reggie maintained a long term relationship with the Kennedy family. His daughter, Victoria, and the late senator Edward Kennedy were married in 1992.

Reggie held several appointed offices, but never ran for any elected office. He served in the campaigns and administrations of several Louisiana governors. Reggie once served as executive counsel for Edwin Edwards.
Reggie is survived by his wife Doris Boustany Reggie, six children, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Given his relationship with the Kennedys, It somehow seems ironic to me that his passing comes at this time.
