Foghat ‘Slow Ride’ Story About Lafayette Was A Joke. Here’s Why I believed It [Video]

A story about the classic Foghat song "Slow Ride" being a reference to Verot School Rd. in Lafayette recently blew up on social media. It turned out to be a spoof from a satire website. I believed it and wrote a story on 999ktdy.com. Here's why. A friend with years of media experience e-mailed me a link to the story. If you're familiar with Verot School Rd....'nuff said. I've also met the band. Ten years ago, I celebrated my birthday at a Foghat & Blue Oyster Cult concert. The members of Foghat autographed a photo for me. They were familiar with Lafayette, and the guitarist spoke glowingly of Acadiana guitar legend Sonny Landreth. I guess the joke's on me, nonetheless.
