Dr. Jack Kevorkian perhaps best known as 'Dr. Death,' died at age 83 this morning from an apparent blood clot that lodged in his heart. 

The Detroit Free Press reports that Kevorkian had been hospitalized at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan for heart and kidney problems.

Kevorkian’s attorney, Mayer Morganroth, says is appears Kevorkian 'suffered a pulmonary thrombosis when a blood clot from his leg broke free and lodged in his heart.' ' It was peaceful, he didn’t feel a thing,' Morganroth said.

Dr. Jack Kevorkian was convicted of second-degree murder in 1999 in connection with one of his high profile assisted suicide cases.  He served eight years of prison time.

Attorney Mayer Morganroth says there are no plans for a memorial at this time.
