Costco Updates Mask Policy to Include Medical Conditions

2020 has been a really crazy year. I mean, who would have ever thought that one of the hot button issues in the entire United States would be whether to wear a mask or not? We've all seen the viral videos of employees and customers screaming at each other over masks (or no masks). It's gone way past the point of being civil, honestly.

Well, today one of the nations biggest retailers is updating their mandatory mask policy at all of their brick and mortar stores. Costco Wholesale is now going to require all members and employees to wear a mask upon entering the stores. And if they claim to have a medical condition, face shields will now be required. The policy goes into effect on November 16. Fox Business News published a letter that was sent to all warehouse members saying in part "If a member has a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask, they must wear a face shield at Costco. Entry to Costco will only be granted to those wearing a face mask or face shield."

I am a Costco member, and was quite shocked to see the amount of people not wearing a mask the last time I was shopping in our Lafayette location. Especially since they were one of the first nationwide retailers to make them mandatory in May, and the company also has signs at the entrance to the store stating that masks are required. Costco officials are saying that they do have other options for those who might not want to comply, like their delivery choices on Costco.com
