42-year-old Anthony D. Collins of Church Point is in the St. Landry Parish Jail after he allegedly held a woman hostage following a fight during which he allegedly stabbed her.

On Thursday of last week, deputies with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office responded to someone who said he spoke with a woman on social media who was saying she had been injured and was fearing for her life, according to a press release from department spokesman Deputy Chief Eddie Thibodeaux. But deputies say they didn't hear any movement inside Collins' home on Leslie Road for over 30 minutes.

Early next morning, numerous people began calling the Sheriff's Office saying they were hearing from the same victim who said she was seriously injured and was bleeding badly. Thibodeaux says deputies went back to the home, found it unlocked, went inside and found Collins with the victim in one of the bedrooms. Investigators say Collins allegedly stabbed her on the right side of her waist, threatened her life, and slapped her repeatedly during an argument after they came back home from an outing. After that, Collins then allegedly would not allow the victim to call for help or leave the home. Collins is also accused of forcibly keeping her quiet while deputies were checking on her.

Collins now faces charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Second Degree Kidnapping. His bond is $135,000.
