State police say a Charenton man killed in a crash early Sunday morning was not wearing a seat belt.

That crash happened around 12:30 a. m. Sunday just outside Jeanerette city limits on the Old Jeanerette Road near Lewis Street.

Troopers say a truck driven by Alvin Trosclair, III, ran off the road, flipped, and hit a tree. The force of the crash threw Trosclair from the truck.

State police say the crash remains under investigation.

The crash is the 10th deadly crash in Troop I this year. Trosclair's death is the 11th fatality in the area in 2021.
